A new rising star in summertime fun! OPD Skateboards is turning it up a notch!
July 18, 2010 on 3:06 pm | In Activities, Beaver Creek, Eagle Valley, Equipment, Events, Locals, Off-Resorting it, Summer, Summit County | No CommentsFor the past five years OPD (Original Poop Decks) Skateboards has been working away developing new concept longboards and now has the production capabilities to produce boards to the general market. OPD offers many different types of longboards and short decks. I have been privileged to test the new OPD Downhill deck coined “The Steamer” and at speeds of 25-45 miles per hour this deck out performs anything else out there. It handles tight corners incredibly at high speeds and pushes in flats with minimal effort and resistance. The deck will premiere at “Blaze the Belt 2010″ on July 30th and 31st in Leadville, CO. The “Original” OPD longboard has also been in my quiver and will perform to industry standards competing with Arbor, Sector 9, Gravity, and Bustin Boards. They are developing “The Warning Shot” which is a flex deck with a blunt kick tail and tapered kick nose; This deck will compete with the loaded boards “Tan Tien” and is on the cutting edge of the freeriding discipline of longboarding. The Campus cruiser is a smaller deck designed to perform under most commuting conditions and is perfect for toting into class and work. There are girls models of these boards as well as every board can be customized to fit the individual needs of the rider. Custom graphics also available for a small extra charge, OPD privides true original longboards and takes pride in every board that is still rolling after 5 years of testing.

The Snow Beats Halloween for the 2009 - 2010 Beaver Creek Ski Season
October 28, 2009 on 12:02 pm | In Beaver Creek, Eagle Valley, Equipment, Locals, Lodging, Skiing, Snowboarding, Vail, the Snow | No CommentsIt is October 28th and there is snow covering most of the higher elevations in Eagle County. This is not usually the case, normally we get hit with a good winter storm before Halloween, but it then melts due to a warm front or the ground being still too warm. Not this year! We have more snow in the forecast, 1-2 feet by Friday the 30th. If this continues we should have great opening day/early season conditions at both Vail and Beaver Creek resorts. Beaver Creek is planning to open 11-25-09, just 5 days later than Vail’s 11-20-09 expected opening day. Vail has been blowing snow in Golden Peak, using their new park snow gun setup, and according to rumor is planning to have their half pipe and jumps up very soon after Thanksgiving. Vail has recorded over 100 inches of snowfall in 2008
December 20, 2008 on 1:36 pm | In Activities, Beaver Creek, Eagle Valley, Entertainment, Equipment, Events, Skiing, Snowboarding, Summit County, Vail, the Snow | No CommentsThe 2008-2009 ski and snowboard season is underway and booming! the snow in the Vail Valley and Summit County keeps falling and is not looking like its going to quit anytime soon. Vail has had 44″ of snow in the past week, Beaver Creek has had 48″ in the past seven days, Breckenridge has seen 19″ in the last week, and Keystone has reported 16″ in the past week. In my expert opinion, the skiing in Vail and Beaver Creek far exceeds that of the Summit County Resorts. Vail has 119″ of total snowfall this season, Beaver Creek has 118″ of total snowfall this season, this far exceeds Breckenridge’s 80″, Keystone’s 59″, and Coppers 97″. If you are planning a last minute Holiday vacation Vail and Beaver Creek are the place to be!!! Vail and Beaver Creek are surprisingly keeping up with the southern Colorado ski resorts in snowfall Wolf Creek has 128″ of year to date snowfall, Silverton Mountain has seen over 100″ since their opening day, Telluride has also seen 119″ of total snowfall this season. The resorts in Colorado are very excited about the recent snow and would like to see more people coming out to enjoy it. The facts and figures on this page are as of 12-19-2008, and the snow is still falling with no end in sight…. what a great feeling!!!
